Fillers
Dermal fillers are a type of cosmetic injectable used to add volume, contour, and smoothness to the face and other areas of the body. They are commonly used to address signs of aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of facial volume. Dermal fillers can provide a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance by plumping up areas that have lost volume due to factors like aging, sun exposure, and lifestyle.
These fillers are made from various materials, each with its own unique properties and uses. Some common types of dermal fillers include:
- Hyaluronic Acid Fillers: Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps retain moisture and add volume to the skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers are among the most popular and versatile fillers available. They can be used to treat a range of concerns, from filling in fine lines and wrinkles to adding volume to the lips and cheeks. Examples of hyaluronic acid fillers include Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero.
- Calcium Hydroxylapatite Fillers: These fillers contain microscopic calcium particles suspended in a gel. They are often used to treat deeper wrinkles and areas with more significant volume loss. One common brand is Radiesse.
- Poly-L-Lactic Acid Fillers: This type of filler stimulates the body's natural collagen production, leading to gradual and long-lasting results. It's commonly used to treat areas with more severe volume loss, such as the cheeks. Sculptra is an example of a poly-L-lactic acid filler.
- Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) Fillers: These fillers contain tiny, non-resorbable beads that provide structural support to the skin. They are often used for more permanent results and are typically recommended for deeper lines and wrinkles. Bellafill is an example of a PMMA filler.

What are Botox injections and how are they used?
Platelet-rich plasma is concentrated blood plasma that contains approximately five times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. Our blood contains red blood cells, white blood cells and cells known as platelets.
Human blood mainly contains red blood cells (93%), white blood cells (1%) and platelets (6%), and all of them are carried by the plasma. During platelet-rich plasma skin therapy, the red blood cell count reduces to 5%, platelets rise to 94%, and the white blood cells counts remain constant.
PRP treatment increases blood flow and reduces inflammation around the follicle. The function of platelets is to promote healing and aid in clotting blood at the site of a wound. Platelets contain growth factors that promote regeneration of the cells in the body, including the area of damaged hair follicles.
What is the procedure and recovery time?
PRP Therapy is a straightforward and safe procedure where blood is taken just like a regular blood test. The blood is put into a centrifugal machine for 8 to 10 minutes and spun. This process facilitates blood separation, and then the platelet-rich plasma is collected and injected into the desired area.
PRP treatment for hair rejuvenation involves the injection of a patient’s own plasma and growth factors to improve hair density and the acceleration of hair growth to improve the appearance of hair thickness and condition.
The treatment takes as little as 30 minutes, and patients usually start with a course of three treatments, 2-4 weeks apart. Most patients begin to see early-stage improvement from 3-6 months and the full effects from 6-12 months. It is essential to note top-up treatment requirements for maintaining thicker, fuller hair.
You can immediately return to your regular daily routine, but strenuous activity and alcohol consumption should be avoided 24 hours post-procedure. Patients may experience a little shedding of hair within the first 1-2 months – this is normal and means the treatment is working.
Will i need additional injections?
If you find the programme of PRP injections helpful, the treatment may be safely repeated. It is important to know that top-up treatments can be given to maintain thicker, fuller hair. It is recommended to always have follow-up sessions to ensure better results.
