FUE Hair Transplant
Hair follicles are transplanted from the donor area to another area that is balding or thinning. At RHC Clinics we use advanced techniques to ensure a safe and comfortable procedure, including the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) + Sapphire method. This method not only allows for faster wound healing and minimises scarring, but also allows for denser grafting.

Your transplant journey...
Transplant Day
On Day 1, your journey at RHC Clinic starts with a comprehensive checkup and blood test. Our team, together with a hair specialist, carefully designs your new hairline for the optimal transplant. The 6-8 hour procedure is conducted under local anesthesia, ensuring a painless experience. During the treatment, feel free to watch TV, use your phone, or even take a well-deserved nap. And of course, lunch is provided to keep you refreshed throughout.
Day 2 - 3
On the day after your hair transplant procedure, you'll return to our clinic for a gentle dressing change to ensure optimal healing and comfort. Our specialists will take care of this for you. You may experience some discomfort while sleeping. However, rest assured that our team is here to guide you through your first hair wash, usually on day 3, providing the necessary care and support to ensure a successful and comfortable recovery.
Day 3 - 14
During this period, your healing process continues as you progress through the recovery phase. Our team at RHC Clinic is available to address any questions or concerns you may have. We provide you with specially formulated shampoo and foam for hair transplant to ensure optimal healing and hair growth. Additionally, you can reach out to our UK support team for any assistance during your recovery journey.
By Day 90
During the first three months, it's important not to expect significant hair growth as the newly transplanted hair may shed initially. This is a normal part of the process, allowing the roots to establish themselves for future growth. By showing patience and following our post-procedure guidelines, you'll be on the path to witnessing the full and natural growth of your transplanted hair in the coming months.
By Day 180
You'll notice a remarkable transformation in your hair's appearance. The new hair will continue to grow, becoming denser, thicker, and more natural-looking. At this stage, many of our clients experience a significant improvement in their overall hair density, resulting in a boost in confidence and self-assurance. As the months progress, you'll be delighted with the enduring and life-changing results of your hair transplant journey.

Follicular Unit Anatomy
Understanding the areas & sections of your head hair growth.
Single Follicular Unit
Neck/Nape area contains single follicular units used for hairline edges and eyebrow transplants.
Hairline, Forelock, Mid Scalp & Crown
These regions are the most common areas in need for hair transplantation.
Donor Area
Most abundant follicle area containing follicular units with 2,3,4 & 5 individual follicles. Units from this area are used in your FUE hair transplant procedure.
In the initial step, tiny circular incisions or punches are made around each hair follicle in the donor area of the scalp. These punches are strategically placed to ensure minimal damage to the surrounding tissues and to facilitate the extraction process.
Using a specialized instrument, each individual hair follicle is gently extracted from the scalp through the tiny incisions created in the punching step. The process is meticulous and requires precision to preserve the integrity of the grafts.
Once the hair follicles are extracted, they are carefully collected and sorted based on their size and quality. These grafts, also known as hair follicular units, are vital for achieving a natural and aesthetically pleasing result in the transplantation process.
After the graft collection, the doctor creates small recipient sites in the bald or thinning areas of the scalp. The extracted hair follicles are then delicately placed into these recipient sites, ensuring proper alignment and orientation to replicate natural hair growth patterns.
Following the transplant, the newly implanted hair follicles enter a resting phase for a few weeks before shedding. Subsequently, the transplanted hair will gradually start to regrow, and over time, it will blend seamlessly with your existing hair, leading to a fuller and more natural-looking result.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of hair transplant method do we use at RHC Clinics?
We exclusively use the FUE method (Follicular Unit Extraction) for a hair transplant. This involves the individual removal of hair follicles from the donor area, preparation in a saline solution and reinsertion in the affected areas. This treatment method is as gentle as possible, requires only minimal invasive procedures and there is no need for a complete shave. Don’t be surprised – the transplanted hair will fall out again after about 3 months, but they will grow back and afterwards you'll have them for life. You can see the complete result after about 12-18 months. Have a look at the experiences of our patients.
Is a hair transplant also possible without shaving the head?
We also offer the hair transplant without shaving the head. However, there are only a few cases in which we consider doing so. This is currently only possible for clients with long hair and only if the hair transplant is for the receding hairline. In this case, the head is not completely shaved, as in the case with the normal hair transplant, but only the donor area and about 2 cm of the recipient area towards the middle of the head, in order to insert the hair without a transition. Shaving the donor area is always necessary, because only in this way hygiene and correct removal of the grafts can be guaranteed.
However, it is recommended to always do the procedure with a shaving if there is a desire for a good and lasting result. Therefore, it should always be weighed up with our specialists on a case-by-case basis whether a hair transplant without shaving is worthwhile.
Is hair transplant also suitable for women?
Yes. A hair transplant is suitable for both women and men. Particularly popular with women: The long hair transplant, which is offered by us for male and female patients. In long hair transplants, the hair in the problem area is not shortened. Only a strip at the back of the head, which serves as the donor area, is shaved. The size of the shaved strip varies according to the amount of grafts needed. After harvesting the grafts, the shaved area can be covered with the existing hair so that no bald spots are visible.
How long does a hair transplant take?
A hair transplant takes 2.5 to 8 hours - depending on the treatment plan.
